In our experience, based only on only three weeks in Scotland, the midges could be ferocious on the lovely calm, sunny days. But you never saw or felt a one on the cold blowing, sideways rain days. Which to hope for? A conundrum.

As it turned out, there were many more of the latter for our July trip. Rain pants helped. Good luck in either case!
