Firenze: Il Ritrovo--Where are Marco and Rosetta?
DH and I are back in Firenze... We have it rough, eh? And for our first night in Florence, we wanted to return to Il Ritrovo, the wonderful restaurant owned by Marco and the lovely Rosetta. One of our best memories of Italy two years ago.
We dutifully arrived, rang the bell and we were met by a very charming man; definitely not Rosetta.
When we asked if Marco was working tonight, the waiter told us they were gone to a new place. We stayed and thoroughly enjoyed the food, but we were hoping to re-connect with Marco and Rosetta, two of the nicest Italians we met two year ago.
Does anyone know where they have gone? What is the name of their new restaurant? (if any) Are they still in Florence? Il Ritrovo looks exactly the same, but for us, part of the soul was missing. (I'd still recommend the food though)
Any help appreciated!

Ira - I'm with you. It was one of our most enjoyable meals in Europe last May, and we have just made reservations for another anticipated wonderful dinner there this coming July which I will now cancel...ah well.
If anyone does somehow hear of a new location, please post.

Frankly, ekscrunchy, I thought it would be bad manners to ask since he had the opportunity to tell me and preferred not to.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Perhaps we will phone and ask the new people where they might be; I was embarrassed to do so face to face.

I can't believe they are gone. They were the heart and soul of Il Ritrovo. We ate there twice while in Florence last year. I even have a photo of the 6 of us together. It's one of my best memories.
Let us know if you find them.

When in Florence speak to one of the Tourist offices (the one in the train station is for hotel info only)..there is a posibility that someone would know where this couple has relocated to as Florence is a closeknit city for the business residents.

The Florence Chamber of Commerce has an email address which is: [email protected]. Their telephone number is 055-27951. Besides the tourist office that I mentioned previously it is a good possibility the Florence Chamber of Commerce would have the information regarding this couple if they have opened up another restaurant. Best wishes.
