Finding Fine Crafts in France...Italy... Belgium Help me solve the mystery....
I am looking to find Fine Crafts such that you would find in the US at a really good art show. Having a hard time finding them even with the net and asking every European I talk to.
Can anyone help me? Will be leaving soon Sept 1-12 Thanks

Can you be a little more specific? What kind of crafts? Toys, home decor? Wood, metal, glass, ceramic? Textiles? Jewelry? New or antique? Contempory or country/provincial? Price range? This info will help you get the most useful answers. I know several fine crafts stores in Belgium, but each of them specializes in something different...

May I also suggest you define this - "Fine Crafts such that you would find in the US at a really good art show" a little better.
This will help Europeans (who, let's face it, probably know the answer to your question best of all) to understand what it is you're after.
What are we talking fine art paintings and sculpture? Do you need to know where the best commercial galleries are? Or are you talking about folk crafts? Please help us to help you!

Oh sorry. "Fine crafts" would be made of wood, metal, glass, pottery, jewelry. They would be handmade by craftsmen and not large companies. Prices range from $10
to $1000. In the US they would be at the Philadelphia Craft Show, the Baltimore American Craft Council show etc...
In Europe...I am not sure but I think England has a Craft Council as well.
One example of something is some small sheep out of clay. They were lovely and about $70.
Thanks so much for all who are trying to help me.

Oh, I forgot to mention that fine crafts don't look like they were made by an amateur (in U.S we call this loving hands) but rather they are very professional and would be highly sought after as being so much more unique and special than something mass produced. Hope this helps clarify this.
Thanks again...I think lots of people would love to know about this..

Well, I'm not sure if this falls into the category of what you're looking for, but I bought a hand-made ceramic bird whistle from the craftsman who made it right there at his display at the fish market in Brugge. It kind've looks like a water pipe at first glance. You fill it with water and blow through the ... lip? and it makes a bird-singing sound. For the equivalent of about $6 three years ago.

I followed a road sign to a sabot maker's shed and bought a pair that hangs on a wall, In provence, in Lumieres, I bought a tablecloth with a quote from the Little Prince that was made for someone who never returned for it. It's now hangs as a drape at my window. Embroided by Edith Mezard at her ChateauIn Brittany, I bought a Hand carved lamb on wheels. In St Cyprian, there was a pottery fair on the beach. I bought three cigale pins in different baked colors.
