I am having trouble finding information on festivals in May in Alsace or Bavaria. Most seem to be in the fall.

Lots of places have a festival or party on May 1. Enter <Maibaum Festival> on the Internet and you will get a lot of ueful info.

and one other which has 69 in its URL are the basic places to hunt and they are English speaking focused.

MaiBaum (May tree) good place to start but you will find other wine festival links.

Bavaria is not (by itself) a wine growing area of any note (ok locals stop throwing stuff at me). Nearest is Franken and Wurttemburg but also note that Pfalz and Baden is right next to Alsace (a three for one opportunity

And please ignore my stupid advice above as I assumed you were looking for wine festivals. I guess you can identify my hobby.

On the left-hand side of the page, you can search for events by date. I just looked for 1-31 May and got about eight pages of stuff. You can narrow the search by type of event -- wine fest, music, etc.
