We're planning our Spain - Morocco trip for late June. We're still working on the itinerary, but will likely be Barcelona, southern Spain and a few days in Morocco ( likely Fes).

What are your suggestions to get from Fes to Jerez? We're open to returning to Marbella, Malaga, Granada as well. We don't see any direct flights, grand taxi/ train to Tangiers then a ferry to Jerez is an option.

So, Barcelona, Andalusia, & Morocco -- does that mean you are planning on a trip of at least a month?

For a sense of your transportation options, check rome2rio.com, but do check the information it offers, as it is not sensitive to seasonal variations.

And please, by all means, get or consult some decent guidebooks! Their cost will be nominal in comparison to the cost of your trip, and you will learn things you don't even know to ask.

Like how VERY hot those parts of Europe can be when you are thinking of visiting....

Train to Tanger - ferry to Tarifa - bus to Cadiz - train or bus to Jerez.
If you want to go to Malaga, you can just take a train from Fez to Nador and a connecting ferry from Nador or Melilla to Malaga.

As N says, take the train to Tangier, ferry to Tarifa, and then bus to Jerez. Do check further for a flight from Fes to Seville, then bus or train to Jerez.

How are you getting TO Fes ?

I'd much rather pay for a cab to take you from Fez to Tangier. I would put Andalusia last.

No, unfortunately we won't be spending at least a month - 14 days (2 days in Barcelona - this is our fourth visit ), 2-3 days in Fes and the remainder in Andalusia.

We're well set-up with guidebooks, our favourite is Geo ( I think it's only published in French) and Micheline. Nothing beats the opinions of travellers like yourselves though.

We'll be flying from Montreal to Barcelona, then thinking of flying from Barcelona to Fes.

I like the idea of a taxi - Rome2rio refers to a grand taxi, which seems to be a minivan of sorts.

Now your plan makes a bit more sense to me!

Andalusia can easily take 10 days or more, so you might want to think through your priorities and make sure you have time for everything you want to do there.

A normal Moroccan Grand Taxi is just a car with 4 seats (in addition to that of the driver) where they put 6 people, everyone paying for one seat. It starts when it is full.
For more comfort, you may pay for 2 seats or rent the whole grand taxi.
Every gd taxi has a route where it's licensed for, for example Fes - Al Hoceima and back or Tetouan - Tanger and back. For itineraries outside the grand taxi routes, you will have to rent a normal taxi (with higher fares).

I found a taxi more comfortable than the train.
