Ferries

Hello, I am going on a trip from Swansea Wales and plan to go to Tenby by train, and then ferry over to ireland, up to dublin and then over to Halifax England. What would be a great way to do that? I will have about four nights.

The nearest ferry port to Tenby is Pembroke, with twice-daily sailings to Rosslare (www.irishferries.ie).
From Dublin, you can go to Holyead or Liverpool:

www.stenaline.co.uk
www.norfolkline-ferries.co.uk
For train connections in Britain, see www.nationalrail.co.uk, and in Ireland, www.irishrail.ie.

Thank you!

So what do you think.. train and ferry or fly?

13 hours of travel vs 2 hours..

one is scenic and some what of an adventure.. the other is just a flight..

cant decide..

How are you going to get from Tenby to Dublin (or Dublin to Halifax) in two hours?

If you look at the National Rail website, you'll see that it takes a lot more than an hour from Tenby to Cardiff. In fact, it's about 3 hours 25 mins from Tenby to Cardiff airport. Then, you can't just step from the train onto a plane.

No. as GeoffHamer says, the train is a lot longer than 1 hour - plus advance check in at the airport. You are really looking at half a day at least.

4 days is not very long for traveling across 3 countries, and a body of water - twice.

Hmm, interesting.. and glad I asked.

Well, I need to get from Swansea to Halifax and I have from Sunday Morning until thursday evening. What do you suggest? I would love to make it to Ireland as it is where my ancestors are from. A small town called Navan in county Meath outside dublin.
