Favorite Spot in Tuscany to spend 2 days in February

We will have 2 nights to spend in the Tuscany Region of Italy, before we will go to Rome. Any favorite spots ? I was thinkig of taking the train out of Florence and then renting a car once we get to our destination to drive while there. I would then return it before we take the train to Rome.
Any in-put would be appreciated !

You can easily rent a car in Florence. The rental agencies are a short walk from the train station. As for places to stay for two days, my personal favorite is the Villa Belvedere in Colle Val d'Else, about an hour south. But I might try a hotel in San Giminiano in the same vicinity.

Hi Mary,

2 recommendations:

Pick up car in Florence
drive to Spello (Umbria)
HIGHLY recommend Palazzo Bocci
see Spello and Assisi
return car in Foligno

or

train to Siena
see Siena
pick up car drive to Montalcino
Hotel Giglio
see Montalicno, Montepulciano, Pienza
Sant' Antimo
Monte Oliveto
drop car in Orvieto
see Orvieto if you can add a day or two
train to Rome

If you would like to check out my trip report for Spello and Assisi, type in Dayle's solo trip, and it should come up.

Buon viaggio!

MaryPPP,
I like southern Tuscany. You can e-mail me for daytrip suggestions.
