Favorite Rolling 22" Bag for Travel?
Am in the market for a new rollerboard (my old TravelPro finally bit the dust). I was thinking of getting a new 20 or 22" Travel Pro, Platinum or Crew, but had heard that the TravelPro quality had gone down in recent years. Does anyone have any good luggage recommendations you could share. Have looked at Eagle Creek, Briggs and Riley (a bit expensive) and TravelPro Platinum 6 and Crew. Thanks! BTW, going to Italy for 2 weeks - will want to take bag for that).

I absolutely love my Pathfinder luggage. Great frames, good inside pockets and area, and good wheels. I can also attest to the sturdiness - a small truck actually ran over the handle (embarrassing story
)with virtually no damage. Most luggage would have been beyond repair and I would have been mid-vacation shopping for a replacement...but not with Pathfinder.

I used to like travelpro, but I find them very heavy compared to others out there now.
I really like the Skyway brand one I've had for 3 years now. A couple of months ago the plastic button broke which allows the handle to raise and lower. I emailed the company, with a photo of the broken piece and they sent me a new one, free.
If you don't want to spend a lot of $$$, I recommend you check Marshalls or Ross discount stores. Both usually have huge selections of 22" rollers (incl big names like Travelpro).

My travelpro lasted for over 15 years before it fell apart, and I love the Swiss Army brand in a shocking blue I bought about 5 years ago. It's well made and the handle turns in two position holds that makes maneuvering the bag easier.
I bought my son a cheap bag for short trips, and although I usually go by the saying that expensive isn't always the best, in this case it was -- after 5 short trips, the zipper bust and the handle broke off.

I actually love my Quickload Duffel from LL Bean (http://tinyurl.com/mxfo58). I have the carryon size and the bigger one. I've had both for a couple of years and they're holding up quite well.

Some have mentioned liking a bag's good organization/pockets. Many brands have lots of pockets inside and out, suiter/hanging thingies that snap in and out, etc. I like just a box with wheels, but everyone's needs are different. So, don't just zero in on a brand or two. Figure out what features you want (and don't want) and then look at the brand/s. I think the one thing we can all agree on is that we want luggage with a good strength-to-weight ratio.

Jent: My favorite bag is very similar to your LL Bean. When I was shopping a few years ago, I decided light weight was most important, while maintaining durability and easy handling. I had schlepped enough heavy bags through train stations and airports!
I settled on the Eagle Creek Load Warrior 22". It only weighs 7 lbs empty. Like yours, it has the cinch straps which I love. It doesn't have lots of pockets and other extras...those add weight. And, unlike most "duffles", the top opens fully.

I've traveled with it many times now, both carry on and checked. I especially appreciated it on train trips in Europe. Easy to handle and soooo much lighter than my old hardside bag.
