Favorite Lodging Bath,Cotswolds,York,Edinburgh

If anyone has recently booked lodging in any of these towns/locations and was very pleased with the accomodations and rates, please share your recommendations. If you still have a website, even better. Thanks!

I've stayed multiple times in all of those places - but w/o knowing your budget it is hard to give any sort of recommendations. How much do you want to spend?

Portobello, 3 miles from Edinburgh or 2.10 pounds rt on the bus, which loads 20 feet from the front door. We stayed at: http://www.assc.co.uk/defaultpage121...propertyid=229

"2 Cambridge Street" in Edinburgh was a divine, centrally located B&B with friendly owners and gourmet breakfasts.
I think they are around 95lbs a night.

Paradise House Hotel in Bath is great -- super comfy rooms, a wonderful landscaped back lawn that overlooks the city and outstanding breakfast. Small warning - you do need to walk up a pretty big hill at a very steep incline to walk back from town, but it's worth it.

As janisj said, what is your budget ? what type of lodgings are you looking for - hotel (and what grade), B&B, self catering etc.

With a bit more information I'm sure there will be lots of people able to help you.

Edinburgh - Our favorite B&B on trip to Britain last year was the Turret House in Edinburgh -- however, the woman who manages/owns? it is quite a case. We termed her a "sour tart" as she was quite unpleasant. Her helpers were quite the opposite - almost as though they were making up for grumpo! The rooms were beautifully decorated - very new and extremely clean. She has a 3-ring notebook full of "rules" in each room. They do not allow washing out clothes (even undies) in the rooms and say that they provide laundry service, however, when we asked for it, she said she wasn't in the business to do laundry.... (ok, so take it out of your "rule book".... You also had to make your breakfast selections the night before by 8 pm (turn in form). Hard to know what you will be in the mood for in 12 hrs?? Food was quite good b/t/w... Anyway - lovely, lovely B&B, but quite a sourpuss as your hostess. Can't remember the price, but was reasonable

We really enjoyed the Fosse Manor Hotel near Cheltenham & Stow on the Wold. The hotel is very nice. They have a great breakfast and thier dinner prices were reasonable (we ate in the bar).

"the Fosse Manor Hotel near Cheltenham & Stow on the Wold" Just to clarify - the Fosse Manor is just outside Stow-on-the-Wold and is nowhere near Cheltenham

Thanks for every reply. It was suggested that I be more specific. I'd like price to average no more then $125-$150 per night(reasonable?) for a double. I'll have a car in the Cotswolds (need parking)Prefer B&B if host is friendly and location is convenient, rooms are quaint. Thanks Again.
