Prague, it's a pure delight. Very easy to get around in and if you take care to learn a few basics of the language then many of the younger people are very friendly in English. There is so much to do in this fairy tale city that it will easily occupy a 10 day trip. Make sure to go to the Lanterna Magicka (okay, I know that I've misspelled that

Berlin is one of my favorite cities because it is the history of the 20th century--good and bad; excellent museums and quality orchestra, opera, etc.; thriving night life; good food and friendly people; easy to navigate.
Prague, Florence, Budapest, Krakow all are up there.

Vienna is my choice hands down. If you are a novice traveller or seasoned one, this city has got everything you would want: An excellent public transport system, museums and culture aplenty, opera and operetta at its finest, beautiful Hapsburg palaces, corner cafes and coffee houses that are unequalled anywhere, restaurants that serve the best food you'll find anywhere on earth, and everywhere you look, history, history, history. Just walking the cobbled winding streets of Vienna will fill you with the romance of this wonderful city that has it all.

Paris is always my first choice but for the unseasoned & probably more thrify traveler I would choose Prague. Easily walkable, English is not a problem & it is less expensive than many places in Europe.

Of all the places I have visited so far in Europe, I have to say that Prague is my favorite city. It is absolutely beautifu1! There is gorgeous architecture and views everywhere you turn! It is a spectacular walking city, very easy to get around, great public transportation. The food is great and people are nice and friendly. Prague is also a very reasonably priced city. On our last day there, we revisited some of the places we were at earlier in the week, and discovered new nooks and crannies and cobblestone alleyways we hadn't seen before. One evening we were sitting on a bench in Kampa Park (next to the Charles Bridge), drinking hot mulled wine. The streetlights were on; there were flickering candles on the cobblestones; we were the only ones there and felt like we were transported back to an earlier century.
Close favorites would be Krakow - lovely old city, smaller than Prague, even less expensive than Prague, Polish people are very nice; and Rome - which is large but great food, architecture, history, piazzas.

Right now my favorite is Paris.
The light, the parks, the Seine, the smells. I am always happy in Paris.
But I am working on this list, I need to add a few more cities to choose from.
