Favorite city in Europe?
I've traveled around parts of Europe over the last 10 years, but most of that was as a student. I'm anxious to travel outside of my usual destinations. So, I'm curious to know other's favorite cities and what's so wonderful about that city.

mnapoli - I just saw your comment and was very surprised. I love Copenhagen . . . I've spent a couple of years there in the last 10 years and I feel the same way. But I'm not sure why. Considering the city itself, once you're outside the a mile radius of the Radhuspladsen there's not really much to see.
I really like north Zealand because of the castles (Kronborg, Frederiksburg, and Fredensburg) and the Cathedral in Roskilde, the old parts of Dragor south of Copenhagen, the town center of Koge, Dyrhavn/Bakken, the Danish Riviera . . .
Perhaps it's a percentage thing. There are some spectacular sights in other cities (London, Rome, Paris) but square mile for square mile, I think there's more of Copenhagen that's interesting to see than any other city.

Rome is, in my opinion, head and shoulders above the rest. I never tire of Rome.
Why? I like the history, the architecture, the vitality. (I should mention I like Mexico City, too. Less "beautiful" than Rome, but, once you get used to it, very interesting in strange, parallel ways.)

Hi
It's difficult to say just one. It's usually the last trip. I have several favorites, in no particular order. Budapest, still old world but changing.
Berlin, a comfortable feeling despite its history and destruction. Rome, just Rome.

I adore just about any city in Switzerland and the country is so small, it feels like one could see everything in a week. It's all clean, punctual and picturesque. Now that I've been to Italy, I also would say a tie for me between Rome and Florence, both because of my degree in ancient history to Renaissance. They're like open-air museums!

It is very difficult for me to make a clasification, I like many european cities.
However, the first is PARIS.
I like also London, Rome, Wien, Salzburg, Madrid, Barcelona, Budapest, Berlin, Venice, Florence, Lisbon, Prague, Brussels,Amsterdam, St. Petersburg, Copenhagen, Stockholm...but Paris is the most beautiful IMHO.
I do not like the cities in Switzerland, except Lucern.
