Farmstay recommendations in northewrn Holland

Can anyone recommend a farmstay north of Amsterdam, preferably a dairy farm? They are travelling within 2 weeks.
Thanks.
p.s. there is no tag for Holland

There is no tag for Holland because there is no such place as Holland. It is Netherlands, or Nederland in the native language.

Sorry I don't know about farms.

I found this by googling "farm stay in holland":

http://www.dutch-farmholidays.com/

clearly they recognise the term "Holland" even if fodors doesn't!

hope this helps,

regards, ann

Fodors recognizes 'Holland' - just doesn't have a tag for it - one tag per country.

If one searches on Fodors you'll find lost of threads . . . . maybe not about farm stays though. I didn't check them all out.

Thanks Annhig. I found that link on the Internet. I was hoping for a personal recommendation for a farmstay in the NETHERLANDS, north of Amsterdam.

I stayed on a real farm in Holland many years ago. I was going with a Dutch lady, and we visited her parents for a "vacation". Actually a week of really hard work. Some sort of test for the Yank, I assume. Mostly what I can remember is mud. Really sticky mud mixed with cow poop. I understood why they wore wooden shoes in the old days.

There must be other kinds of farms that might be nicer, but my experience makes me wonder why you would want to.

DDest, there are several dairy farms on the site annhig found - have a look at Friesland or Overijssel rather than Noord Holland.

annhig - a pension rodents is a place folks can leave their pet mice and rats while they go on holiday. Understandably not many neighbours are enthralled at the prospect of looking after young Jan's pet rat. My son's rat used to go to one, as no one would have her, but when the neighbours four kids each had rats they came here while the neighbours were enjoying their three weeks sunbathing in Spain.

Holland is actually north of Amsterdam, and south of it. Two of the provinces are North and South Holland. It has become a normal name for the country - the Dutch use it for their football team after all. However not all Dutch are Hollanders. It is the area most tourists visit, and most people think of when they think of the Netherlands.

Nukesafe many farmers still wear klompen (wooden shoes). They even got special dispensation from the EU health and safety rules to enable them to continue to wear them for work. Very comfortable once you get used to them.

Oh and I meant to add that many farms in the Netherlands are very intensive. Many do not even have the cows out in the fields any more which is a shame, for us but mostly for the animals. And I won't begin over most chicken and pig farms here.
I can't recommend anywhere as I have never done a farm stay in here, though I lived on a dairy farm in Overijssel for a while, back in the days when cows had names and lived outside. Even on that farm now the cows are in all the time now .

thanks hetismij - i'd guessed as much. i think we provide an unofficial service for the rodents of this neighbourhood to judge by what our jack russell catches!
