Fares weekend BEFORE Labor Day -- historically higher?
I'm waiting to buy tickets until 2 months or so before the trip, but am booking hotels now (Italy). Need to come up with itinerary. Am thinking leave Tuesday Aug 30, return Mon, Sept 13.
Labor day is Monday Sept 6.
Does anyone know, in the past, how far in advance of Labor Day fares usually go up? Am I safe in assuming that Tuesday Aug 30 is far enough before Labor day (Mon, Sept 5) that the rates will still be lower?
(I realize you can't predict this. Just wondering if anyone knows what USUALLY happens.)
Thanks.

generally airfares from the usa to europe are the same from june 1 to sept 15 when they may dip a bit, and then on oct 1 dip a bit more, but then on nov 1 take the big dip which lasts until march, with some holiday exceptions...
i don't think you will see any difference in prices on aug 15, 30 or sept 1 or sept 7....you may find seat problems however...not only do you have to worrry about tourists, but you have to worry about returning students...
april-early june are good times to book....
having said all this, things are different the last year or so and maybe 2004 will be different also...
