Fantasizing about retiring to Paris
I'm 51, have many years of work life ahead of me unfortunately, but having visited Paris for the fourth time in April, I feel I MUST live there at some point in my life. The hell with Florida, I'd love to winter in Paris in about 15 years. I'd try to find an American expat community to avoid loneliness, as well as of course finding some French friends. Anyone share this fantasy, or know anyone who's actually done it?

Next time you are in town, go to the service at the American Cathedral on ave George V and stay after for the coffee hour to chat with some of the congregation. There appear to be many Americans of retirement age, most of whom appear to be rather well off financially. My own mom is shopping for a place but in Brittany not Paris.

Andi,

We're thinking alike! I'm 43 and am saving every month for a small place somewhere in Paris (Ile St Louis would be nice but..$), Have been 7/8 times and still can't wait to go back. I have browsed a few web pages of real estate brokers and I am on an e-mailing list for International Living (aka My Mercredi). They are part travel newsletter and part real estate promotions (sometimes a lot of the latter!). You can have a look at:
www.parlerparis.com

Enjoy!

Mi ke
