The best buy for you is the daily family travel cards. They cost 2.70 pounds per adult and 80p per child (through age 15). Just tell the ticket-seller at the tube station that you want family travelcards, and then how many adults and how many children. You each get your own card, which is good for the whole day. Not sold until 9:30 on weekdays, but no time restriction on weekends.

Leslie - Hi, I'm a different Leslie who went to London in '99 w/ kids then ages 9 and 11. Just want to add that even though you have tube passes, your kids will love the London taxis so do take one at least once and, figure that on a few occasions, if it's raining and/or your kids are tired, you'll want to just hop a cab back to the hotel for a rest. Have a good trip.

Leslie,

For details on all the various passes and fares, try:

http://www.londontransport.co.uk/ftt_visitor.shtml

The London Transport Visitor TravelCard can be purchased in the US through travel agents (it can also be purchased online from several commercial vendors, but they add handling fees). For convenience, this is the way to go. But for price, the daily family pass--bought in London--is probably the best bet.

David White
http://www.KidsToLondon.com
