I am planning my first trip to France in June of this year. Has anyone traveled throughout France before whether by train or plane? I'm looking for the best way to see a handful of provinces in France beginning in Paris. Thank You!

Without knowing how much time you will have and what your general travel tastes are (museums, countryside, food, wine, just hanging around, type of hotel?) it is difficult to provide any advice.

We have traveled by train, car, plane and all of the above in the same trip. It is very doable, but careful planning must be done. If you have any specific questions perhaps I can answer them.

Thanks for the response Michael, I should have been more specific. I will only be spending 7-10 days in France. General intersts - all that you mentioned (food, wine, vineyards, the obvious tourist sites and soaking up some sun). I'd love some recommendations on nice places to stay in Provence, St. tropez and or Monaco.

Hate to harp, but even more info would help, in my book... How nay people are you? Do you prefer to move around once? twice? frequently? in this 7-10 days? Is this why you asked about train or plane? And have you allocated 7-10 days OTHER than the time in Paris?

Moncao is as far away from Paris as you can get, and would not be my first recommendation for where to go - - you will spend a lot of time getting there.

I think there are still some cheap flights from Paris to Nice, even though the "leading" low cost airline in France, AirLibExpress has just financially collapsed.

A good case can be made to go ONE place from Paris, rent car and explore to your heart's content from a single base without re-packing and unpacking.

you cqan put together some great itineraries that have NO dependence on the use of a car, but I would not pesonally.

The answers to some of my earlier questions will allow better advice to you.

Best wishes,

Rex
[email protected]
