I had a pop-up from VIP flights fill up my entire screen while I was on Expedia and had just clicked to complete a flight transaction. There was no way to x out of the screen and I had no idea if the transaction had gone through. Had to end up calling Expedia. So aggravating!

I have had it with the stupid pop up ads. I had to log back in for some reason tonight and I couldn't even do that until expedia got out of my face. I don't know about you, but they haven't made any points with me this month!

grace, if you ever have a full screen window again that you can't x out of, this should work if you are using a windows PC. Hold your ALT key down and press the tab key. You'll see a pop up box showing you your open programs and let you choose which one you wish to go to.

Add American Express to the list of transgressors.
If I knew a phone number or e-mail address of someone (not a flunky, but a wheel) who would listen to the purchase=avoidance action these popups beget, I would use it (as would others). Don't you techies out there know how to find such things?

The hilarious thing is that just a minute ago I clicked on the Expedia banner . . took me to a webpage that said in bold letters:
This offer is no longer available.
What an advertising ploy! ! !

Expedia isn't making any fans here either.
DH's computer isn't as hi-tech as the one I use, and it was a pain the other night when I was Fodoring on it. I will have to pass the tips on to him. Thanks!

I'm using MSN to access Fodors, and I get the Expedia pop-up almost every time. I do have a Pop-Up Blocker, but this is the ONLY pop-up it isn't blocking.
I'm running out of patience with this pop-up. I thought I could wait it out and it would magically disappear. We're talking months now. Fooled me.

I've found that for some reason, when I use Netscape 7.1 I don't get the annoying Expedia "roll-over" ad. No Spiderman thingy either. However, when I try to post, I get a blank page instead of the page that lets me log in and write a reply.
If I use IE (with the Google toolbar as a popup blocker) I get the horrible Expedia ads and also Spiderman. But, I can post. So, for now I'll just use Netscape unless I have something to say. (which doesn't happen very often!)
I hope that all of you who are annoyed with these rollover ads let Expedia and Fodors know what a pain they are. I realize that ads are a necessary evil, but they can try to keep the annoyances to a mininum.

I just saw the Spiderman one. Like I want a big, ugly spider web on my screen. There's advertising and then there's just plain stupidity. Personally, I will avoid Expedia and am getting so I don't want to use this site as much either.

Try adaware.com. I mentioned the *rollover* problem to my husband and he seems to have fixed it...although I have to admit, I won't be surprised to find that expedia or fodors will find a way to circumvent this. Adaware.com takes a few minutes to download--time well spent, I would say!
