Just to set the record straight, I don't work for Singapore Air although I have written a few times about the airline and how happy I am whenever I fly with them.

I found on their website airfares from JFK to Frankfurt for $556 RT for the summer. Taxes and fees included.

That's a pretty good fare to be flyig with the best airline in the world according to a few of the travel periodicals.

Granted, we bought our tickets a long time ago, but we are flying from Chicago to Frankfurt for $442 RT. Guess you just have to plan far enough in advance and keep an eye on the web specials.

Airfare to Europe is cheaper in the spring. If you're a student you're in luck. Student fares/ youth fares are less than regular. TRy STA.com.

Also I created a public folder with helpful links from my experieneces

This is the correct link to my travel folder, I screwed it up on my last link. I hope it's helpful.

There are a lot of good fares out there - I've found a bunch of JFK to LHR in early September for under $500. - with an open jaw LHR/CDG for only a few dollars more.

nytraveler- you mentioned a "jaw"- is that the same as a "consolidator"? I have seen some good prices for Paris in October from PHL but am worried about using this method? Should I be?

Hi ober, my understanding of open-jaw is that it's a trip that goes into one city and comes back from another. This has nothing to do with whether the flight is booked through a consolidator.

We get good deals to Europe in the winter months by reading the Sunday Travel Section of the Chicago Tribune. Can't beat airfare and 5 nights in Florence or Venice for $599 (Italia) or airfare and 6 nights in Paris for $649 (francevacations.com).

Tickets were for BA which now go for about $1800-$2100; not bad at all.

Although it sounds like a very good fare, regardless of the dates - - you really should tell us what month is the travel. Without that, it is virtually impossible to know the context of how good a deal it is.

Best wishes,

Rex
