After seeing who made the finals, they should rename it: East Eurovision

The French song went over the top as well... L'amour à la française by the Fatals Picards.

I absolutely love the Eurovision Song Contests (and I’m straight!). I love the fact that some countries take it terribly seriously and others (mainly us) just take the piss.

I was particularly taken with the year that when they were doing the voting all the other countries presented their votes in front of a monument or palace or castle – and we presented ours from Old Compton St.

I also like the fact that most countries just vote for the countries they get on with best.

It’s going to be hard to top Lordi though.

The UK entry is irritatingly catchy - rather like chickenpox. Would you like to fly Scooch airlines...

UK entry is dreadful, but is sure to win. We will have a new PM soon and all the countries will surely want to impress and have close co-operation with the new guy.

What better way than to vote for the UK...lol

Last time the UK won was when TB became PM if I remember rightly.
This had nothing at all to do with the song..lol

I watch is sometimes for Terry Wogan's comments.

Are we the only country taking part that takes the mickey out of it all? Surely not ALL the others can take it seriously....can they?

Here in Switzerland, we're in mourning today. DJ Bob's vampires are no longer alive. Killed by lack of votes. And we had such high hopes, even though DJ Bobo cannot hit a single note when he sings.

Switzerland is in shock. I'm watching DJ Bobo explaining why he didn't make the finals. Seems it's a bit of an Eastern Europe conspiracy.

Not important enough for a political issue, but we are still licking our wounds.

15 minutes to go....

Love your take on it Mucky!

Grease is the Word has my immediate attention, but later I shall be channel hopping later with renewed eurovision-interest to see if your theory proves correct... though I hear that Scooch don't have the best draw, following straight after the Ukranian Trannies (the bookies favourites?).

(Bucks Fizz were the best, though Jonny Logan was better looking...)

Did anyone see the Father Ted episode when he and Dougal were chosen to sing a dreadful tune at a Song Contest because they were so bad they just couldn't win, and Ireland just didn't want to have to host another Song Contest? Hilarious!

The Dutch also are claining an Eastern bloc conspiaracy. There is a campaigne here to not take part again until they throw out all these eastern upstarts, or split the contest it two. Sad.....so very sad.
And no this year even Terry Wogan won't get me watching it. Now I'm going to watch Later.. which I recorded last night.

And I thought the U.S. cornered the market on horrible music. This junk makes Rap sound like Beethoven.
