Euros/British Currency? Please explain

We will be in London in April. Can someone tell me the status of the Euro in the UK? I'm afraid I am ignorant on the subject. Is the UK still using british pounds -- or is everything in euros now? What is the exchange rate like?

I would very much appreciate any information. Thank you!

Yes, the UK is still using pounds sterling, also known as GBP. For conversion rates, see www.xe.net or any of several other web sites. Others will probably cite their own favorite(s).

Best wishes,

Rex
The interbank rate is about 1.64 Euros to the Pound. If you're buying with cash you'll probably pay around 1.70 Euros.

Although Britain has not adopted the Euro, many outlets and tourist attractions are accepting them.
Some of them are Harrods and include selected branches of Marks & Spencer, Selfridges, John Lewis, Dixons, Virgin stores, Tie Rack and WH Smith.
While certain shops are accepting Euros, you have to watch their conversion rates carefully - UK shops can accept Euros essentially at any rate they choose (just as for any other foreign currency).

In sum, if you're just going to the UK, you can forget that Euros exist. The pound is going for about $1.40 - $1.45 lately.
