Where did you discover the most charming bakery and/or candy/chocolate shop in Europe? Favorite treats?

On Rue Monge in Paris. Cheese bread and quiche are our favorites there. However, their desserts are also out of this world.

tomatoe sorbet in provence,
Lefevre-Lemoine bergamottes de Nancy that I bought in Nancy. They are herbal candies that come in the exact tin box that Amelie finds in the wall.

Muellers in the central square of Brastislava. The Cafe Central in central Vienna. The cake shop just west of Pool Valley in Brighton. Betty?s in York and Harrogate. The nearest Konditorei to Cologne main station. The Cafe Mohren on Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin.

Hi,

In Paris you will find Pierre Herme at 70 Rue Bonaparte and Laduree at 21 Rue Bonaparte.

There is no need to go anywhere else.

Hot macaroons sold on the street in Riquewihr (Alsace) - the chocolate ones ought to be listed as dangerous drugs.

Can't remember the name, but the ice cream/bakery shop right on the main square in Seville.

Yes, Ben - Betty's in Harrogate. Cream Tea heaven, surrounded by the oh so genteel ladies with helmet hair.

Not a bakery, but you can't leave out Vivolis in Florence for gelato!

RLA, are you going to choose your first European destination based on what country offers the most sweet shops? What an interesting approach! You must be very confident of your figure .

DLN - Didn't you? The quiz did imply that for us Thai's, our hearts rule our heads! As much as I would like to, prudence will prevail. However, a "special" few in the areas I reach will be must-do's on my itinerary. My waistline has not given me permission, but I intend to win favor by then.
