Europe's Hostels

I am going to Europe for 2 months and plan on staying in many hostels. Could any one recommend any that you thought were good? I'm going everywhere on the continent. Thanks

If you are a student, have a look at the website www.statravel.com Also, the message boards on lonelyplanet and slowtravel may have more hostel info than here.

Top three in France:
1) The HI Auberge de Jeunesse in Lyon is great and the help leads late night pub tours. Too bad its at the top of a hill.
2) The hostel in Le Mont Dore--what a view, great mix of old and young, good group dining.
3) Aix-les-Bains - the town is weak, but the Quebecoises who run the place will leave you weak in the knees.

If you haven't already, I'd also do and search &/or post your question on Lonely Planet's BB called Thorn Tree. Many more people there who go the hostel route. www.lonelyplanet.com then to the TT.

Maybe also Rick Steves site or guidebooks, but he's a little bit more mid-scale/older crowd generally than LP which is aimed for backpackers but all are welcome.

I really enjoyed Luxembourg city's.

After a negative experience in the simplest of hostels in a remote area (more like an unsupervised shelter)I avoided those.

Have fun!
