European Tour

Hi, my husband and I have narrowed down our choices for our first trip to Europe. We want a tour we can be comfortable with so we have selected Go Ahead Vacations, Holiday Vacations, Collette Tour (recommended by our travel agent)or Globus. We chose these because they have you staying in the least amout of hotels. I can't stand the thought of all that packing and unpacking. Has anyone ever gone with any of these companies. We will probably stick with 1 country, probably Italy or Switzerland, although I hear that the Swiss are not that warm. Your input would be appreciated. Thanks.
I've never gone on any of those tours, but don't be discouraged about the "cold" Swiss. I've found that you're better off not relying on judgements made about other cultures. You didn't mention what month you were going, but Switzerland has a generally milder climate than that of Italy. It's very beautiful, and even more so near the Alps. It's very peaceful, tranquil, simple..etc. Italy is very romantic! I love the Mediterranean! Both of these places have charming sights to offer, but since you are going with your husband, I would suggest romantic Italy.
Buon viagge!

We went to Switzerland Aug.19-Sept.1 for a Tauck Tour and it was just plain fabulous, from beginning to end. Weather was cool, comfortable, refreshing and sunny. All Swiss we came in contact were very friendly and provided great service. I would do that tour again, anytime. The areas we visited, which included northern Italy to all the mountain peak areas, were not packed with people and it was easy to get around.

Two years ago I took my granddaughter on a Globus tour of Italy. We had a wonderful time. Our tour guide and bus driver were great. Most sights were included. A few were optional. We had time to do things on our own when we wanted to. Hotels were very nice. The most important thing you need to do is to compare the itinereries and pick the one that includes the things you want to see the most. Watch our for those "optionals". In fact I am taking another granddaughter to Europe in May. I chose Globus again.
