Yes thats right, its Arberesh, a dialect of Albanian spoken in Sicily and southern Italy. It is in fact my mother's language.

I'd seen certain folk music in Basilicata referred to as "Arberesh," and I knew that was the music of Albanian communities, but I didn't realize that was the name of the dialect as well. I have been curious about Piana degli Albanesi in Sicily because I've heard that it has especially interesting traditions associated with Easter.

Djalo: If you're still checking this thread, would you come back and post about some of the Albanian towns in southern Italy and Sicily? Thanks.

I don't know why this is topped, but I don't mind. I'd still like to know about the Arberesh towns.
