This should be an easy one:

This designer (last name: 8) was born in (place: 9). He recently made news headlines with a piece of clothing he designed for (fashion house: 4) for (person: 7,6).

"i" from Rijksmuseum is 5th letter of designer's name.

OK, that was easy.

Galliano
Gibraltar
Dior
Melania Knauss

I am terrible at giving clues, someone else can. 111op?

Wow. I missed this news item completely....

And I couldn't come up with a 4-letter fashion house....

Are you sure that you don't want to give a clue? I'll check back in a half hour. I've not really been playing and haven't been thinking about clues in a while.

That's right Lewis.
I'm talking about the $100,000, 50-lb wedding gown donned by Donald Trump's bride.

I probably can come up with another clue if no one else wants to give one.

I've one in mind -- at least it's not an art clue for a change.

But we can wait for Lewis until 3pm EST.

By the way, I saw a Galliano shirt in this Paris boutique (L'Eclaireur) that just refused to sell. It's been there for a few months, at least. It had some sort of skeleton motif. I forget the price tag.

I wonder if his fashion looks like this in general. Somehow the flashiness suits the Trumps, I think.

Clue: There's been somewhat surprising news about this religious object (3 words: 6, 2, 5) that it may not be a medieval fake after all.

4th letter of first word = "o"

Yes, that's right.

I was curious to dig up the actual scientific article:

This building (name:7), which was inaugurated last month, is the first of its kind in this country (7). Sadly, the architect (7,6) was unhappy with the design, mainly because his concept was heavily "controlled" by the person (8,7; first word with a hyphen within the 8 letters) paying for the building.

"r" from Turin is the 4th letter of the building name.

It's the operaen in Copenhagen, Denmark, designed by Henning Larsen.

Mc-Kinney Moeller is the one who picked the architect.

Ok, another art clue until I can think of something else.....

Painter, 4 words (4, 3, 3, 6)

One celebrated painting is the (museum: 5 letters).

Another important work lies in the (building: 2 words, 5, 4) in this town (6 letters) in this region (8 letters) in this country (6 letters).

This building was founded by this figure (last name: 5 letters) now lost to history but yet another celebrated painting of this historical figure can be found at this museum (6 letters) (the artist of this painting is another important master). (Note that I've used this latter painting of the historical figure in a previous clue.)

Finally, yet another masterpiece is located in (town: 6 letters), which has a couple of different spellings depending on whom you ask and is a popular day-trip location for Fodorites. The last painting depicts the (actions, 2 words: 5, 9).

Last letter of first word of painter's name = "r."

Oops -- sorry. One celebrated painting is in this five-letter museum. It's too vague, but when you research it you'll know which painting and which museum I've in mind.

You guys are just a bit lazy, aren't you.

Some more hints: The "region" where the building that houses the second painting is located is a major wine-producing region of the country in question.

The three paintings by the master in the clue are in there separate countries. The first painting is located in a country with five letters. The last painting is located in a country that's a neighbor of the second.

Not lazy, but busy!

Ok, I think the painter is Rogier van der Weyden.
First painting is in Prado
Second painting is at Hotel Dieu in Beaune

I have to figure out the rest.

Yes, the Prado painting is the "Descent from the Cross."

Hotel Dieu in Beaune was founded by Rolin.
The painting is Jan van Eyck's "Madonna and the Chancellor Rolin" at the Louvre.

The last painting - I'm having trouble figuring it out. I am thinking Brugge or Bruges - but not sure what painting it is.
