Pont des Arts, the 1803 pedestrian bridge in Paris not because the bridge itself is beautiful but the views from it are!

RobesPeter - then the Avignon song should go "Sous the pont d'Avignon..." thanks - i think i've read that too.

Evidently someone who didn't know the topography thought <i>sous</i> would put the dancers in the water, so he changed it to something more logical.

Another vote for the Tyne Bridge, which I thought for years was the model for the Sydney Harbour Bridge, bur apparently it's the other way around.

No matter. You can't beat the view of a whole collection of bridges spanning the Tyne as you arrive by train from the south.

The new "winking eye" bridge is cute, and for very personal reasons, the Armstrong Bridge spanning Jesmond Dene.
