Europe Alone

As someone who has done a lot of travelling alone, I highly recommend it. At first you might think that it will be lonely, but you're really only by yourself for a short time. You meet all kinds of fellow travellers along the way. That's half the fun. Best of luck. Cheers,Gary

Try picking up a Contiki Tour brochure. They offer tours all throughout Europe for very reasonable prices. Also the age group is limited to those between 18 to 35. Try www.geninc.com/contiki

Planning to visit Portugal in Feb. Concerned
about the high cost of converting travellers
cheques to local currency. Any suggestions?
Also want to visit Lisbon & Algarve. with a one day
visit to Tanger. Is there still a hydrofoil
from Tarifa or Algeciras in Spain? I have approx.
two weeks. Should I have more time as I want
to spend a few days in the Costa del Sol as well
as Gibralter. A rental car will be with us @ all
times.

Hi. I am planning a trip through Europe starting
out from Canada in late December, early January.
Let me know your basic expected dates of travel,
maybe we could arrange to meet. I am a single,
27 year old woman. Look forward to your reply.

There is a company run by Rick Steeves called
Europe Through the Back Door. He writes books, has
a PBS series and conducts tours for people not
wanting the usual group tour experience. This sound
like something you might be interested in. The company
is out of Seattle and bookstores and libraries carry
his books. Also you can call and subscribe to his
newsletter free, good stuff about train passes, etc.

I am going to Italy in May 1997 and I will most likely be travelling alone. I am a female, mid-30's, and am concerned about travelling alone. Will i be taken advantage of in hotels, train stations, etc.? What should I expect? Thanks!
