Camrowe, without intending to appear uppity I think you need to sit down with your wife and determine what you want to accomplish in your 10 days in Europe. Are you after adventure, art, relaxation, fine cuisine etc.? Once this is determined, do a little research on some destinations and then post more specific questions to this board. Long time Fodorites will help anyone who presents questions that are answerable. At this stage, it is difficult to offer much to you. Good luck and we look forward to your next posting.

OK - that would be like "I have 10 days to see the USA - where should I go??"
Absolutely impossible to give you any sort of useful advice w/o some work on your part. . . . . . Like what sorts of things you enjoy (at very minimim).
And unless you mean to visit just the Benelux countries, 10 days is not very long. You won't get far driving if you only have 10 days - certainly not a "drive through Europe"

Well, first I'm not sure what "uppity" means. I've seen people us it to mean snobbish - but that doesn't work in the context.
teacherCanada's point is correct. Without knowing anything about you or your wife (are you 25? 75? on a budget? looking to splurge? any special interests - food, wine, history, art, mseums, castles, hiking?) it's impossible to give any sort of snesible answer.
And tht's not "uppity" - simply reality.

Are you flying back out of Amsterdam also?
If so it will make car hire cheaper, than an international drop off.
I would suggest you spend at least two days in MAsterdam, then pick up the car and head south to Limburg - Maastricht or one of the small towns around depending on your tastes. Then through the Ardennes to Luxemburg. Then maybe on to Strassbourg, before heading back up through France, and Belgium, visiting Brugge and back to Amsterdam.
Or head east through the Netherlands, visiting some of the lovely less visited places then in to Germany and back round to Amsterdam.
