Euro-Disney

My wife, 6 year old son and I are thinking of going to Paris Disney at the end of July during our visit to Paris. Does anyone know how long the lines are? Any other advice?

Thanks to all!

Mark

A couple of things...

1. The proper name of the place is Disneyland Paris. There is no such thing as Euro-Disney.

2. Depends on the day of the week. I went on a Sunday this past June and the queues were not very long for most anything. Perhaps all the repeat visitors were busy checking out the new park?

3. The biggest hoot we had was going to the Buffalo Bill show which is pretty much like many of the American dinner shows you may be familiar with but it is fun seeing the reaction of the naitives to it.

You'll have a good time......

I came back from a trip to Paris a couple of weeks ago, and one of the places where my boyfriend and I spent a day was Disneyland. I had gotten free passes through American Express Membership Rewards, so we went. We had a blast. The lines were hardly bad at all. The longest we waited for a ride was 35 minutes for the Peter Pan ride. The French are extremely efficient at getting people off a ride and getting new people on. They even had a 45 second countdown clock by some of the rides. If I hadn't gotten the passes for free, I probably wouldn't have gone, but I did have a fantastic time. A six year old would love it.

My son and I went to Disneyland Paris in March 2001. Lines were not bad - we used the fast pass (can't remember what they called it) and just zipped through the rides. The fast pass didn't cost extra, by the way. It came with the entrance fee. I think we managed to do all the big rides in about 4 hours - in fact we rode Space Mountain twice.

If your son likes fast rides, make sure you go on space mountain, it is quite different than the ones in the states. More whimsical, but a little more jerky.

Although I really didn't want to take time out of my trip to Paris to go to Disneyland, I ended up enjoying it. Max loved it.

As someone else mentioned, there is no such thing a Euro Disney anymore! It's called Disneyland Paris.

One thing I would suggest is to buy your entry ticket ahead of time at either the tourist office on the Champs-Élysées (right next to the Arc de Triomphe) or at a metro station. To ride the metro to Disneyland Paris, you'll need a different ticket than one that is used for the inner city. At metro stations, there is often a deal where you can buy a combo metro ticket/park entrance pass.

Sometimes the entry lines are VERY long to get in. I've been there a couple of times, though, and the lines at most of the rides aren't prohibitively long. At some of the more popular rides, obviously it can be longer. Also, the time of year can play a huge factor.

However, it's NOTHING like Disney World, in my opinion! It's smaller, for one thing, but much more manageable.

Jennifer

Just a note -- it's smaller than Disney World, but larger than the Magic Kingdom.
There are now 2 parks, one of them a Warner Brothers (I think) Studio.

Use the Fast Pass system. Look at the web sites for guidance.

Dear MSR
My family (2 adults & 2 kids ages 7 & 10) spent 2 days at Disneyland-Paris (June 11 & 12). The lines were manageable - we didn't have to use the "fast pass" and the longest wait was for Dumbo (about 40 minutes). The only problem I would see for you is I think French kids are on summer break now (school was still in session when we went), so the lines may be longer. The weather may be different, too (it was overcast & cold when we were there).
Space Mtn is MUCH DIFFERENT than in the US. The French version is more of a "thrill" ride - very fast, jerky (I thought my head would be ripped off). I spent the whole time worrying I would snap my neck - you couldn't enjoy the ambience of swirling stars, planets, etc. I much prefer the US version - slower, but you're better able to enjoy the whole experience. Also, there was a height limit - my 7 yr. old son was too little. My other impression was that Disneyland-Paris will be expanding someday - they seem to have alot of areas ready for attractions that haven't yet been built (example: Princess Jasmine's area has no ride, it looks like they're getting ready to put in a Jungle Cruise, but there's nothing there yet, etc.).
Overall, the park is smaller than either of the US parks - they don't have the Matterhorn, Splash Mountain, Country Bears Jamboree, the mini hot-rods weren't operating, etc.
My kids best enjoyed Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Captain Hook's pirate ship (lots of places to climb).
Have fun!

The lines in Disneyland Paris are definately longer than in Disney World. However I can advice a visit because in DLP the best attractions of Disney World are reunated (except for the tower of Terror, we don't have it). The Magic Kingdom is much more beautiful in Paris. Use a fast pass (Peter Pan, Big Thunder mountain , Space mountain, Indiana Jones)The Disney Sudio's (MGM in Florida) are just opened, but I wouldn't advice to buy a ticket. The ticket is very expensive and excepted for the rock and roller coaster , there is nothing very special. With your ticket for the Magic Kingdom you can get free in the studios from 8 pm.
Buy your"entrée"tickets somewhere else because there you also have to wait. When you are looking for a restaurant around 12, they will be very crowded; Go and eat around 11.30am. You will also see that the portions in Europe are more smaller than in the US.
But I can assure you that you will enjoy your stay. Disneyland Paris is worth the visit.

You'll love Disneyland Paris (Euro Disney)!
I've already been to disney world, and i loved the Magic Kingdom more in Paris than in WDW! The rides in Paris are newer! All the mistakes the builder of the attractions made in WDW have been corrected on the attraction in Paris! The waitinglines aren't always extremely long! But sometimes it's possible that the queue-line is long. i suggest you use the (free) fastpass service. These are the rides you really don't won't to miss: Space Mountain - De la terre a la lune (the better version of the one in the states, with a catapult launch and multiple inversions! (you must be at least 1.32m tall), Indiana Jones et le temple du péril à l'envers (must be at least 1.40m to ride), big thunder mountain faster and better than the ones in states (must be at least 1.02m tall)! You might also wanna trie the Pirates of the carribean, Phantom Manor, Le Visionarium, Honey I shrunk the audience, Star Tours and because your son is only 6 years old i think he'll love Casey Jr. - le petit train du cirque! If you intend to visit the studios park aswel, than it can be a big dissapointment! The park isn't as big as it is in Walt disney world! The only very good rides in that park are: Rock 'n' Rollercoaster starring Aerosmith (this one is better than in WDW), cinémagique and armageddon!
I'll hope enjoy your stay in europe!
