Escritoria

Has anyone seen a post from her lately? I miss her prose.

Not for several months.

If you want to do a search for her threads, be sure to spell her name "Escritora."

Escritora couldn't accept, and I do understand her decision, the arbitrary deletions, hence, she left the board, which undoubtedly is poorer without her.

Escritora's brilliance and very particular point of view and approach were remarkable and unique.

I miss her, as surely many of you do, too.

Surlok

Yes, she's a fine writer indeed. She put the pro in prose.

I have been missing Escritora's posts, too.

Surlok, do you know with certainty that was the reason she left?

I thought she probably got fed up with the hostile, non-travel related threads that took over this sight in October and November. The rudeness on this board reached an all time high (or I guess low) in the months that followed the events on September 11. I'm only making conjecture, though. I really have no idea why she left.

It would be nice for the rest of us if she did come back. She always seemed to have something intelligent and helpful to add about so many places. I trusted her advice.

The last post of hers that I remember was one in which she explained that, especially since she was a professional writer, she did not want to waste her free writing offerings on Fodors only to have them arbitrarily deleted. I think Fodors had deleted some thoughtful and interesting "political" discussions re Afghanistan, apparently deeming them to be not sufficiently related to European travel.

It was ill-advised on Fodor's part. I wonder, though, if she's lurking. Are you, Escritoria? How about you, Elvira? Haven't heard much from the queen of the desert lately.

Capo: yes, indeed, she put the pro in prose, but brilliantly. Escritora is a free and original thinker, for which I very much respect and admire her.

S: check by yourself, I'm copying below what Escritora posted on a thread which subject was: "Where is everybody". As you can confirm, a brilliant mind can easily overcome, fight and win rudeness or natiness, but deletions were beyond her capability of fighting.

Carol: precisely!

Author: Escritora ([email protected])
Date: 10/09/2001, 11:18 pm

Message: Beth, thanks for your kind words. I'm still here and have been posting, though you may well have missed many of my posts because Fodors has been deleting threads with such a heavy hand--and in a not particularly even-handed way, either. It's a shame that we've lost so much intelligent dialog here in recent weeks, because many people here who made good contributions to the forum were silenced. I imagine many have found it difficult to remain motivated to post under those conditions.

Thanks for the reply Surlok. You really didn't need to look up her last post. I just was asking if you were specutlating or knew with certainty. I would have taken your word for it after you clarified that. Thank you, though.
Is Escritora back? Unlike others with pseudonyms, we do know who she is, and it is readily available on the internet.

And it is not anyone whose name is identified on this thread.
