Environmental tax on UK flights

Does anyone know the details of the environmental tax on international flights in or out of the UK?

$500?! How big is your family anyway?? How many flights are you taking out of the UK and when did you buy your tix? First class maybe??

The tax is only on outgoing flights. Depending on when you bought your tickets you may have already paid the duty . . . . . (and some airlines have "eaten" the extra tax so you don't have to pay at all)

Doesn't take much to get to $500.

Say you're flying through the UK to Europe; and same way back. So, you pay the intra-Europe tax once (£10), and long-haul once (£40). That's $97.

5 in the family, and that's $485.

BTW, I'm talking about $500 total in the UK Passenger Duty. Not the increase of it.

One also pays various US taxes, as well as another £8 UK Passenger Service Charge.

Yeah - I know the total taxes/fees could get to $500 fairly easily - but there was always a departure tax - the new increase is not adding any $500.

As I said - when did you buy the tickets?

Then you already paid it . . . . (it is included in the price of your tix)
