England Q - Rolling Stones & Blackpool

BBC World TV carried an underscript last night that i only caught the end of

Rolling Stones Go & Blackpool or something like that but did not catch it all

Beats me how the two could be connected

Anyone know

Huge Stones and Huger Blackpool fan

I hope Blackpool survived the recent storms - i guess could have only helped clean it out

Yes i can since many times i've been there i've seen lots of OAPs in the ballrooms - i can see Stones in Blackpool Tower's lovely ballroom with fans their own age and who still would 'groove' to them - 'it's only rock and roll and i love it' type songs

I'd be there if possible

From the article:

"The Riverdance cargo ship ran aground off the Lancashire coast on 31 January after being hit by a freak wave on its way from Northern Ireland to Heysham.

Following numerous efforts to refloat her being hampered by bad weather, the ship's owners, Seatruck Ferries, have said she will never return to service.

However, salvage teams still hope to refloat her in the near future.

A total of 23 people were airlifted to safety - 19 crew and four passengers when the 6,000-ton vessel ran aground.

Tourist attraction

It has since become a popular tourist attraction as people from across the UK visit Blackpool to see the ferry, which is stuck fast on its side."

The remains of Riverdance ferry have all been removed from the beach near Clevelyes, north of Blackpool, except for a few fragments, and they are expected to go by end of October.
Blackpool is developing a new outdoor staging area on the sea defence system in front of the Tower (similar to the one at St Chad's Headland further south) and it's expected that it will be used for rock performances and the like. Already Kaiser Chiefs have performed at St Chad's Headland on a free outdoor concert.
