Emailing Threads

I've noticed that often times I'm unable to email a thread to myself or a friend. All I get is an error message. I've come back to the thread a day later and it still will not email.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi, I've never tried emailing threads but have a suggestion. Why don't you copy the thread into a Word file so you can save it.

I email threads of import note to myself regularly.

Higlight the tread
Click edit on top tool bar
Click copy
Click to unhi-light the thread
Click write
Set cursor in body of write text area
Click edit on top tool bar
Click paste
and voila! the thread is in your email

Then enter you email address (or other address) in Send To
Enter a subject, if you choose
Than click Send

It always works for me.

ChatNoir, I have been emailing threads like crazy lately and they all are working ok for me.
I wonder why it isn't working for you, the server?

Me, too, Scarlett, I've e-mailed about 7 threads to myself lately & they've all seemed to work.

ChatNoir, maybe you could e-mail the Fodor's editors for some helpful hints?

Thanks everyone for the inputs. I am able to email about 80% of the time. Seems like the very long threads or very old threads are sometimes a problem. But it might be a server issue.

I usually email a thread to myself and then cut and paste portions of it to a word document at a later date.

Websites for Paris restaurants is an example of a thread where I get an error message each time I try to email it to myself

While the feature here on the forum could and should prove handy, it would work just as well to simply e-mail the URL of a thread (better than a text file, since it remains dynamic).

Like, for example - - http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34449539 - - for THIS thread.

Available by right click on the message header (in the RIGHT hand side), and "copy shortcut (puts it in your "clipboard" - - Ctrl V to paste somewhere).

Best wishes,

Rex

Chat, I just emailed the Websites for Paris Restaurants thread to myself without any problem. I think the problem may be with your browser and not the Fodors site.
