Electra Palace Athens
I wanted to put up a quick post about this wonderful hotel. The rooms are luxurious and the staff is very helpful. The view of the Acropolis is gorgeous. We had a great few days here. I would choose it over the other lux hotels in Athens in a heartbeat

I stayed at the Electra Palace in May - the location is ideal for sightseeing in Athens. It's in the Plaka, just a couple of blocks from Syntagma Square and within a fairly short walking distance of the Acropolis (although one could also take the metro from Syntagma, which is easier if one has trouble walking).
I wouldn't call the room that we had "luxurious" exactly, but it was typical of a large upscale hotel (more like a Marriott, not a Four Seasons). The bathroom was very nice and spacious.
We didn't splurge for an Acropolis view room, but had a nice courtyard view (and enjoyed the great Acropolis view from the rooftop pool area). The breakfast buffet was very good, with a fresh orange juice machine.
I would absolutely stay there again, unless I won the lottery and could then afford the Grande Bretagne (which isn't far away).

Even if I had all the $ in the world, I would still stay at the Elektra Palace. Grand Bretagne is too stuffy for my taste.
I stayed at the Elektra several years ago and enjoyed my stay. There is a rooftop pool and the view of the Acropolis is wonderful.
And the area of the Plaka right outside is convenient for lots of tavernas.
