We spent two months in Barcelona in February and March of this year (loved it!) - a few restaurant comments....

We ate at Can Majo and another Barcelonetta restaurant called Kaiku and slightly preferred the latter (although you can't go wrong either way) .... here's a link to our blog re Kaiku with pics

Also on the post above are shots of a wonderful store called Casa Gispert - be sure to stop in there. I thought we'd also done a blog entry for Can Majo but I guess it's still in the stack of things to do!

On this post is a comment and some pics of Quatre Gats - given your limited time in Barcelona I wouldn't recommend it versus some of your other choices

Unfortunately you'll miss the Boqueria market as it's closed - Santa Caterina is also a lovely market and it might be open on Monday (can't recall and can't find it on their website - maybe Maribel knows?)

Have a great time!

Thanks beckytx - can't take credit for much as my husband does most of it (I type and edit!) - there will be more restaurants coming up soon, plus our 3 days in Malta at the end.

Have far in advance did you make reservations for the more upscale places? Also, what time would you normally eat dinner? I want to go somewhat on the early side if possible, but not if it means the place is dead and atmosphere lacking, if that make sense. I am leaning towards Moo as of now.

beckytx - we tend to eat our major meals at lunch so can't help too much with timing for reservations (also we were there in Feb/Mar so not so busy).

The OP's trip was in 2006, so I'm thinking she made her choices a while ago. But I'm glad this has percolated up again because I just looked at Elizabeth's blog and I want to go to those restaurants right now and order all the dishes in the photographs.
