Edinburgh Lodgings

For a three-day stay in Edinburgh in May, we are tending toward the Bank Hotel, Apex Waterloo, or Holyrood. Also looking at 20 Albany St. B&B. We want something that is in the center (Old or New Town), relatively inexpensive (in the area of 320 GBP per night), and clean and up-to-date. Any suggestions?

Okay -are you kidding or was that a typo??

AFAIK none of those come close to £300+ a night.

meant to add -- of the places you mentioned, my own preferred location would be the Bank.

Personally I would go for Waterloo Place as it is under 10 minutes walk from both train station and airport bus stop, it is an easy walk onto the Royal Mile but it is not on a main tourist route

The difference being I'd prefer being in Old Town, but Waterloo Place would be good too.

Its a little out of town, but its only a 3gbp cab ride 5 min max cab ride to the center! Stay at 23 mayfield! The service is simply indescribable! They make you feel as if you have been apart of the family for years! the food is just amazing! And the rooms have a view of king Arthur's seat!

I stayed at the Waterloo Place after staying off the Royal Mile for a week last month. We wanted something a little different and were happy with the Waterloo. It is just a short walk to Old Town and at the end of Princes St. The location suited what we were looking for.

I'm a huge fan of the Apex hotels. I don't think they can be beat for friendliness or service, and I love the clean modern looks.

I had clients at the Apex Waterloo and they were happy.

janis: The Bank looks interesting, but gets poor reviews. I know that trip advisor isn't always the best place to look, but... What else would be in that area in that general range (under $200/130 GBP)?

The raddison Blu is almost next door to the Bank hotel and might just be within budget.there is also an Ibis on Humter Square about 50 yards from the Bank hotel.

Thanks all for your responses. I`ve checked out the Waterloo, and it looks interesting and within our budget.
