Edinburgh

Friends just invited us to share a house in St Andrews, Scotland in March. In order to use air miles for the trip we are staying an extra 4 days. We have been to edinburgh and glasgow before. Any suggestions of what to do for extra 4 day trip .... train to England, fly to Brussels, etc.
Thanks

Have you only been to Edinburgh? If so, there are hundreds of places you could go in Scotland.

Other than Scotland--you could go to Liverpool, or York (or Liverpool AND York), or London, or too many places to count.

What sorts of things interest you?

Rosslyn Chapel is interesting. There is an hourly bus from York Place in Edinburgh that takes 40 minutes.

why not spend a few lovely days along the water? i stayed a few nights along the water just outside of edinburgh and enjoyed that area, as well as day trips (30 min by bus) into the heart of the city. or head out to oban and see some islands-- that could be a fun adventure. (you can probably tell i love to stay along the water.) i'm sure you could easily fly into london to see a show or two-- if you want that kind of quick pace. more information??

Thanks for the suggestions! would it be too cold in March for skye or by the water ? The Highlands sound good to me too. Any suggestions of where to stay? What is to do ?
Also would consider Liverpool... hubby would like to see Beetles museum there. We've been to York and it was nice.
Maybe train to London (we were last there 12 years ago). ( Funny our son is there now on college trip but leaving tomorrow )

If it were me, I'd book into a nice hotel in the central Highlands, on the railway line. Maybe the Atholl in Blair Atholl?- and walk and do a bit of sightseeing and just veg out.

It's not TOO cold; but it may well be cold.
