yes AlanRow, you're right about that. But if you want to change your ticket it's common sense that you'll pay the difference. It happens in every airline all over the world.

Also what i meant with 'what you see is what you pay', i meant about the actual tickets without taxes etc. Here in Greece where i live, airlines advertise their tickets without never mentioning the taxes, so you always add them up in the end. (Although i;ve noticed that airport taxes with Easyjet are usually cheaper from other airlines.. probably because they use the airport's amenities less).

Anyway the bottom line as others mentioned is that i've always had a good experience and i'm willing to sacrifice my meal and spend less money on tickets for just 2-3 hours travel.
(i woulnd't sacrifice safety for ANY reason but i don't believe that easyjet is less safe than other airlines)

Just booked two return tickets fro Glasgow Prestwick to Paris Beauvais with Ryanair for the end of November start of December. Headline price was 4 pence for the flights, £20 for checking 1 bag each, £58.24 for Taxes Fees and charges and £8 for booking by credit card. Giving a grand total of £86.28. Nowhere near the adertised price but still great value.

I've used Easyjet, Ryanair, flybe and Jet2 frequently over the last 7 years and to date, touch wood, have experienced no problems. There are some great deals out there if you book ahead.

The only advice I'd give is make sure you're at the airport early and read the luggage and ID rules. restrictions and

The prices are real and we have paid these rates for years - but :

don't breath - Ryanair charge £2 for and exhale £1.50 for inhale (never been sure about the price differentials

don't speak to the FA : £3.50 a minute peak rate

don't eat the food : £115.90 for a cheese sandwich

don't take excess baggage : it would be cheaper to charter a private jet for the baggage

don't try and get on the plane early - this is called speedy boarding again charged.

Sweriously though - generally the flights are fine - the service is what you would expect. If you simply want a flight it makes for incredible value for money.

There have been rumours that the airlines receive substantial subsidies from the destination local governments to keep the ticket prices down.

All in all it doesn't do much for any of our carbon footprints and I am a particularly bad offender.

Even worse are "Frankfurt", "Paris" and "Brussels" (the airports used by Ryanair are nowhere near these cities - 120 km distance is normal).

At least they are sticking to the truth with Rome or Salzburg.

They don't advertise "Frankfurt" or "Brussels", it is very clear on their website Frankfurt-Hahn and Brussels-Charleroi..they don't say Frankfurt international or Brussels international..they just put the name of the most important city nearest to the airport, but also the true place. If there's good transport and the price is also good , it doesn't matter too much for this short flights.

Even when it means a 90 minute bus ride which deposits you in town sometime after midnight

Yes, even then, it has happened to me If it means to me the difference between going or stay at home..I go and arrive at midnight.Sometimes I have no other option from where I live. If the difference is not so big, I don't do it. For me , it's only a maths question, and 100 euros can make the difference.

EayJet - We paid a total 77 Euros for one way Paris Orly to Barcelona, for 2 tickets. This included all taxes and the charge they add if you use a CC to charge the ticket (which, of course, we did.)

We looked at using EasyJet last year, ended up booking with RyanAir to go from Edinburgh to Dublin and back. They operate similarly and yes, the prices are real. Our rate was 1.00 pound! They add taxes and fees. I think our fare was about $30 each way. DO take the weight restrictions seriously - the overcharges are high.
There are no assigned seats and no food but the flights are short. Very efficient airlines.

I have used easyjet several times and also BMIbaby another cheap airline. I have never had a problem with either. The best way to get the cheapest flight is to book as soon as you can. The nearer the date the more expensive it is. I went to a weeding last year in the Cezch Republic I added on a few days in Vienna and Budapest after the wedding. I booked my flights as soon as I had confirmed my plans about 5 months before. I flew one way with BMIbay and back home with easy jet. For 2 adults the total return flights cost me £78. Friends that left it until a month before paid £116 per person for return flights to Prague.

I have not used Rynair as I have not needed to but people have said that you do need to check what airport you actual landing at with some of their flights, as it might not be where you want to be. Not really a problem if you know that and costed in the time and extra moeny to get bus or what ever to where you want to be.

We bought tickets from Amsterdam to Geneva from EasyJet, is EasyJet the actual airline name and terminal or is there another name for the airline terminal. Also, they said they don't print tickets, is the confirmation number the only thing we will need to board the plane? The reason we questioned it is that when we went to rent a car EasyJet was not in the drop down menu for airlines. And when we tried to contact EasyJet the only way was to send an e-mail to [email protected], this doesn't inspire confidence! And they haven't replied! Thanks

RhineSwitserland, all you need is the confirmation number to check in. Their check in area is in dearture hall 3 (actually it's all one building but divided up theoretically to make it easier to find things. Hall 3 is too the far left as you look at the building. The budget airlines all use H and M gates normally, again at the far left of the building. You will only get a gate number about half an hour before departure so make sure you aren't too far from those gates!

I've just read that medical patients that can't read or don't read well die more often than good readers. So be it! Airline customers are in the same fix. Ryanair puts it all on the line...but the offer needs be read and understood. Merchants have been doing similar marketing for a thousand years. Its called, "Bait and switch". Remember when an automobile came without all the 'goodies', and the price was low? What happened when they were added in? If it sounds too good to be true....
