Easy Jet Hand Baggage Allowance

The posted weight for hand baggage on Easy Jet is 5 kg. That is about 11 pounds, which is not very much weight. Does anyone know if that limit is strictly enforced?
That is, is hand baggage actually put on the scales, or is it a judgment call at check in?

We were way over on our regular luggage. I have a very large rolling duffle and partner had a rolling 27", both very heavy (well, we were traveling for a couple months). They put those on the scale and we gulped, but they never charged us extra.
Meanwhile we each carry backpacks which were stuffed full and certainly weighed a whole lot more than 11 pounds each. They never weighed those at all and never said a word. I thought maybe it was because the plane wasn't going to be full, but it was, in fact people waiting stand by.
So, I think the rules may just depend on the mood they're in or something like that, Bob.

It does depend on the ticket agent. Once my check-in case was way over at which point she made me put my computer bag on the scale as well. I got to hear a brief lecture, and told not to do it again, but she did not charge me. Had the same luggage on the return few days later and NOTHING was said. Another time I only had a small case which I checked-in anyway, and the person next to me was over, so the ticket agent charged him. They probably will not pay attention to your personal bag, unless your checked-in luggage is way over.

We flew EasyJet from London-Edinburgh last March and they looked at our hand luggage but didn't weigh them.

My (checked) luggage was underweight and the agent weighed my 2 friends' bags and subtracted my under . . . they were still over and had to pay $40 (they were 10 k or 22 lbs over). I don't think it had much to do with the plane because our plane wasn't even half full.

Other than that, the flight was fine, not crowded, left on time, arrived early, short flight, very cheap.

Sounds like a lot depends on appearance and the impression conveyed at the time of check-in.
My checked luggage is under the limit; or at least it was last summer in Dublin on Aer Lingus. Nothing at all was said about my hand luggage which was about 14 pounds.
It looked small because it was about 30% empty.
I will chance it that I can get by with 2 or 3 pounds over.
