Do you know how early easy jet will let you check in your luggage for a flight from Gatwick? I am planning to arrive in the morning (9:30am) to Gatwick and going into the city for a meeting and then returning to Gatwick to catch a 5pm easy jet flight to Rome that same day. Do you know if easy jet will allow me to check my bags in for the Rome flight when I arrive in the morning? if not is there luggage storage at Gatwick? if not, at the train station (Victoria?) where the Gatwick express train departs? It would be great to not have to carry my bags around with me. Also, what time would you leave london via gatwich express to make a 5pm easy jet flight. Thanks in advance.

As I recall the flight check-in is open two hours prior to the scheduled departure time and closes PROMPTLY 30 minutes prior...no exceptions, no refunds, no crying, no "my husband is under stress" stuff...
I believe there are luggage storage possibilities at Gatwick but suspect others with more first-hand knowledge will comment.

The station site says there is left luggage at Victoria Station. But phone to be sure this is still the case:

I love an airline that closes when they say they will rather than delay everyone else's flight because they are accomodating someone crying about the heavy traffic or the "husband under stress". And at the same time, I've seen them open an extra counter to accomodate a backed up check-in line so that those who arrived on time will easily be accomodated. I've only flown Easy Jet twice, but found them to be a totally reliable and honest airline -- unlike BA which kept us on the ground and made up LIES to try to keep everyone happy.
And regarding the luggage limit -- because we were traveling for several months we were both definitely over the limit, once they didn't say a word, the other time she mentioned we were over, but in neither case did they charge us extra. Someone said it was because we were American, not UK.

Yes, there are left luggage facilities at both Gatwick terminals and at Victoria.
Remember though that:
- at Gatwick, it's fiddly going between the terminals (you have to wait for the transit), and the trains to London go to the South Terminal. If your plans involve both terminals, allow time for this
- the operation at the station left luggages is quite labour-intensive: bags have to be screened to check them in and the check-in screener is the same person as the hander-over at the end. Fees look high, so queues can be lengthened further by the punter in front of you being horrified at the cost of three days' storage. I've never used these places at peak times, so queues may be longer still then, but it took a good 10-15 mins to get my bag last time.

We were pleased with Easy Jet. We did get hit with the extra luggage charge because Hubby put the carryon bag to be checked before the larger two. I had things that I could have taken out and put in a bag that I had. It was $40, but that brought the total for the flight to $130, not bad considering what all the other airlines wanted.
We stayed at the Best Western Bretagne. a few blocks from the train station and Air France buses. We got a special with full breakfast for 76Euros. It is newly rennovated , ac, bathtub and other nice ammenities. A block from a metro and near nice restaurants anda supermarket. Would stay there again.
