Easter weekend, getting from Dublin to Wales?

We had planned to travel by ferry from Dublin to Hollyhead on Easter Monday, and rent a car in Wales for a few days, winding up in Manchester. We've booked a room in http://www.llandudno.com/georges.html for Monday & Tuesday..... but now I'm having trouble booking the car, mainly due to the holiday! Any advice? Do we have to leave Dublin earllier? We have a flight into Dublin on Thursday, and out of Manchester Sat April 14th (and lots of things planned for Dublin, I might add, with lots wished for in Wales too..Son is at school at U of Manchester, so we want to have a good couple of days there too exploring that area) If we don't get a car on Monday at Hollyhead, where else do we try (and how would we get there?)

Is your problem getting a car in Holyhead? Have you tried getting a car in Llandudno if that is where you are staying? The ferry port and train station are next to each other in |Holyhead and if you caught a train from Holyhead you would be in Llandudno in an hour.
Ask the St George's if they can sort it for you.

Why don't you ask your hotel in Llandudno to arrange car hire for you? They should know the local car hire firms.
You can get to the hotel by train from Holyhead although on the bank holiday there is only one train an hour and you have to change at Llandudno Junction. It takes about an hour.

You won't be able to use a local hire firm, since you want a one-way rental. You'll need to book through one of the national/international companies. Your best bet will be at Llandudno Junction. At least Avis and Enterprise are there (though I'm not positive Enterprise will do the 1-way.

Your other option is probably to use a local firm, turn the car back in and then take the train to Manchester.

Perfect information! Exactly what I needed to know - I'll call the hotel tomorrow to be double sure, but taking the train straight to Llandudno and then dealing with the rental car from there is so much more sensible than the schemes we were thinking of.
