Dublin to Paris

We are flying from one way Dublin to Paris in June. We are thinking of booking Aer Lingus at about a hundred dollars or a bit more. I know there are other budget airlines but have never used any inter-European airlines and am a bit nervous about doing that. Does anyone know if it is worth it to fly on Ryanair or another budget airline? Thanks!

A factor to consider when flying budget airlines is the luggage allotment. If you are going ot go over the limit, you start paying, and the great deal becomes less so.

And, some of these airlines fly out of and into remote airports, so your options to get into the city become more limited, and possibly more expensive.

Many here have used Ryanair, Easyjet, Veuling,etc..

Ryanair fly to Beauvais north of Paris. I have used the service twice with little to complain of.
The bus transfer gets you to a metro stop Port Maillot but takes over an hour from the airport.
Travelling with luggage however is a major factor affecting the economy side of travelling with Ryanair. They make no apology for putting high charges for checked-in bags, which makes travelling with them more suited to weekender travellers who can cope with a small bag under 10 Kg.

I'm assuming that you are flying into Dublin from the US?

If so, who are you flying on?

The reason I ask is that a couple of years ago we booked our SFO flight to Dublin on Aer Lingus as it was such a great price ($800ish in June). We then needed to get to Venice and return from Naples. We could've went with Ryanair for a little cheaper but in the end flew two one ways with Aer Lingus. What was our deciding factor was that we were told that since we had made a transatlantic flight, our bags would be covered on the European flights as well. However, that was no where to be found on their site and although we were told that by numerous employees, when we arrived in Naples, they tried to charge us for our bags. I just stood my ground and in the end they let us through without having to pay. Would I do it again...I think so!

The UNIVERSAL answer to your question is:

1. Go to the departure airport website and see who flies the route
2. Try dummy bookings on the candidate airlines.

Anything else is second hand speculation.

Booked sufficiently ahead of time, most European legacy airlines (above all, Aer Lingus) offer prices that more or less match Ryanair on the same route. You're unlikely to save any substantial sum by choosing Ryanair - but it costs bothing to experiment on the airlines' own websites.
