Sorry been a bit hectic.. Yes was going to say day9 for TotP (6th July?)
Yes 1 UK and 1 Irish these days, going back to the 80's it was one for myself and one for work,, back then they were too big for your pockets so sat at the side of me on the bar, suppose they did that for near 20 years. Hence one of my nicer nicknames.
Will be back on track tomorrow (hopefully)

That's a great story!! I remember those giant phones! Yes, ToTP for day 9 ( July 6) will stay in Clifden at the Dun Ri days 6 and 7, need a thought for Galway if you have one, and another for Killarney , I suppose will have to pass on Ennis this time - thanks

Prague house gets good reviews and handy for Salthill and Galway.. Herons Nest by the quay on Spanish Arch is good for the "Latin Quarter" Killarney I like the Eviston Hotel, mid range room.. Sunybank Guest house is the B&B option of choice..
Rugby 7's are on in Clifden 4-6th if you fancy a bit of sport. http://www.connemararfc.ie/

Thanks for the suggestions, both looked really great for Galway, I loved that they were walking distance to the town and activities (bars!) , unfortunately neither offer family rooms that would suit the 4 of us, I will keep looking. Thanks for the rugby info, was on my 16 year old's wish list - so perfect!

Found what looks to be a great B&B in Galway, walking distance (5 min) to the city center - I need to put this question out there - 4 nights in Galway or 2 in Clifden and 2 in Galway ? I mean staying put for 4 nights has it's advantages, but is there enough to keep us entertained in Galway and can we still easily visit Clifden and surrounding areas?

Clifden is far better suited for the Connemara area.. Galway is a good touring base but if 2 of your days are touring a little bit of the Connemara is it not better to be out there to start with? One day for Inis Mor and one day for the Cliffs and Burren

Personally If I were having a 4 day stay it would be Clifden rather than Galway.. If your only point for Galway is Trad on the Prom.. is a 2 hour show worth centring on? Its a pity you are not in Clifden area the Wednesday night as there is usually an Irish night in Roundstone Civic Hall on Wednesdays in July and August..

Have you thought about the banquet at Dunguaire as an alternative? http://www.shannonheritage.com/Eveni...CastleBanquet/

Thanks for the reminder as to why we chose Clifden in the first place! back to Clifden for 2 and Galway for 2. Lots to see and do, I feel we can't go wrong , but it just makes sense to coordinate the spots we choose to sleep. The Dunguaire banquet looks very interesting as well, thanks for sharing that. Been reading a lot on how the trad music starts later in the evening, is there any restrictions on teenagers being in the pubs?

The "Law" states that under 18's should be out of pubs by 10.30 in the summer season,, some pubs stick to that others are more flexible

Ok, 10:30 isn't so bad, do they check ID? We're a tall bunch, we might just pass! Thanks Tony, I do appreciate all your help . Scouring over your maps, looking for that gold star...

Just so you know, if music is scheduled for 9 or 9:30, it will frequently not start until nearly 10:00!

Nothing in Ireland runs to schedule.. that's one of the charms.. sit back relax and let things happen.. No one is going to check ID so long as you are away from the bar and quiet in most places you will be fine.

can't link on google maps for some reason,, no star but the cottage has been here a while.
