Dublin on St. Patrick's Day

My husband and I took advantage of the big fare sale Norwegian Air had in the fall and are traveling to Ireland in mid-March. We had originally booked the day flight from NY to Dublin on St. Patricks Day, a Sunday, arriving at 23:30. We had planned to spend the night near the airport and then take off on our driving trip the next day. Being in Ireland on St. Patricks Day was not something we needed to do. I had been in Cork on that day back in the late 80s and remember the parades, etc.

Unfortunately, in the interim, Norwegian canceled the day flight and we are now flying the overnight flight Saturday night arriving the morning of St. Patricks Day. So we will spend the day wandering around Dublin staving off jetlag and exhaustion as best we can.

What can we expect to be open/closed on that day? Will there be special parades or events that we need to be aware of?
Thank you!
