Dublin Hotel or B & B
My sister and I are traveling to Dublin in July. We are in need of a mid price hotel or B&B. We won't have a car in Dublin so we would like to be close to the heart of Dublin. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, any sights to see that two crazy middle age (she would kill me if she knew I said that!)sisters would enjoy.
Thanks...

hester,
The problem is that your definition of "mid price" might not be the same as other posters so it would be best to give us details of how much you would be willing to spend per night on accommodation.
The Jury's Inn "chain" is often recommended here & I would class them as being mid price - around about 120 Euro per room per night. Here is their website;
http://www.jurysdoyle.com/
Note that Jury's also operate more expensive hotels so when using the website you should specify the Jury's Inns if that is the type of rate you are interested in.
There are 3 Jury's Inns in Dublin city and I think it's fair to say that most posters agree Christchurch is in the best location. I've stayed there a couple of times - nothing fancy & no great "character" but perfectly acceptable & well situated for shops, pubs & restaurants. Parnell St. is the newest so it may be nicer inside if that is important to you.
Hope this helps,
Jim

Have a look at
www.hotel-ireland.com
They have discounts of up to 70% on hotels in Dublin. I got over 60% on a 4* hotel, bringing the cost down to just over 100 euros a night which is less than a lot of 3* hotels charge.
I'll be there in December with a few friends, so if we find some crazy fun things to see and do (apart from just going for a great craic!) I'll post back and let you know!

Jim and Julia thank you so much for your replys. Your right Jim one persons midprice maybe anothers top price. I guess I didn't think to clearly when I was writing it. I would like to stay around 120-150 a night if possible. We don't need fancy just clean, safe and hopefully close to main attractions. I will certainly lookup Jury's Inn. Your info is appreciated.
Julia, Thank you for the website, I will look into it also. Have a great time on your trip. I have traveled with my sister a great deal and we always have a good time. At this very time she is practicing her drinking songs. The only thing is she doesn't drink!

I'd always heard good things about Jury's Hotels, but I felt the Christchurch was just that little bit far out from the centre.
I was told that hotels north of the Liffey - while cheaper - are not in such quite a salubrious (late at night anyway)part of town; this especially applies to hotels on or near O'Connell Street/Parnell Square. I was also warned that anywhere in the Temple Bar area is likely to be very noisy at night.
So I looked south of the river, away from Temple Bar and found St Stephen's Green Hotel in a great location for a really good price on the website I mention above.
I'm sure you will find a great hotel to fit your budget.

Trinity lodge is a great place in the city but on a nice side street away from the madness and close to grafton street and any pubs and restaurants you would need. I book a lot of people here for my work. I would reccommend it as I have had no complaints and the locatuion can't be beat and its in a lovely renovated georgian building.
Jurys in Christchirch is by no means away from the centre its a 5 minute walk to Temple bar and good value. Stay away from places on Gardiner street as they tend to be crummier and a lot of backpacker hostels and as a tourist I would not like to see you walking there too late at night although things seem to be improving around O'Connell street these days.
