Driving Rental Car from Austria into Czech Repubic?

I plan to fly to Germany, rent a car, travel around Germany, then to Austria, then Czech Republic, and then back to Munich. Will we have problems with this plan? I understand that there may be an additional fee, but have read about problems at the border getting into Czech Republic. thanks!

No problems exist for renting the car other than you MUST tell them you are going to be driving in the Czech Republic. How many days do you plan to spend traveling for the entire trip?

There should not e any problems at the border - but you must make sure your rental agency will let you take the car into the CR. Most companies will - but not all - and some won;t let you take larger or more upscale cars in. (If you take it in without permission your insurance is void in case of accident etc.)

Agree with both suggestions. When traveling from Portugal to Spain, I e-mailed the rental agency, so as to have the answer in writing. It's possible the agency makes a notation on the rental agreement. As far as driving into the CR from Austria, we had no problems. Richard

But, there will be a hefty surcharge if you do not drop it in Germany. Have fun !
