Driving Granada to Barcelona: What not to miss?

We will be driving for 6 weeks starting August 25th through France and Spain. I would really appreciate any advice concerning the many towns along our route from Granada to Barcelona. We have three days to wander, and there seems to be no end of great spots to visit. I have the Frommer's Great Drives Tours book, but would really appreciate personal experiences from those who have visited or live in this region. We are not 'lay in the sun folks' anymore, but love the ocean. Would also like to stop at spots where we might see interesting real estate (the kind middle-class Canadians might still be able to afford), with the idea of one day spending 1/2 year in Spain. I do speak Spanish - at least the Mexican version - and would like to hear suggestions from one and all. Many thanks

Oops, should have mentioned that we will be doing this drive from Sept. 24th to 26th in case that alters suggestions.

Well, we have no ocean between Granada and Barcelona

I live in Castellon, 60 km north from Valencia. I think you would love to visit Peñiscola. It has a medieval castle just inside the sea, it's beautiful
You also can visit Moraira , in Alicante 's province. It's one of my favourite spots of the coast along with Altea and maybe you like it for living there
And of course, Valencia and going north a bit..Sagunto.
These are my "musts" though there are a lot more between that route. Hope you enjoy your trip !

Thanks for your reply Kendarina. I should have said "Sea." I have noted your suggestions on my map as 'must visits'. Muchas gracias

If you go inland, you might want to see the windmills of La Mancha and the cliff town of Cuenca.
