drive fly or train from milan to avignon?
I have 4 nights in Provence and am traveling from Lake Como. Should I drive, fly or train there? Again from Provence to Berner Oberland. Drive, fly or train? Thanks for the tips

I suppose you know that the North Italian lakes and the Bernese Oberland are are close to each other both and far away from Provence

As you can guess from the first responses, there are no flights from Italy to the small airport serving Avignon. http://www.avignon.aeroport.fr/site-...gnon-Provence/
Nearest major airport is Marseille Provence. www.skyscanner.com shows two direct flights daily from Milan on Air Corsica.
Then you have to get to Avignon. There is a direct regional train from the small station near the Marseille airport, connected by a five-minute bus shuttle, or TGV trains from Aix, connected to the airport by a shuttle taking 10 to 15 minutes. The regional train puts you in the centre of Avignon while the TGV stops on the outskirts where you take another shuttle.

My choice: train. www.bahn.com shows three trains from Milan to Avignon, taking from 6.40 to 7.40 hours depending on the number of connections.
I don't rent cars but expect that there might be extra cost to renting a car in one country and leaving it in another.
Now you can use these tools to research the next leg of your journey.

Well I think we are going to forego Provence due to time restrictions and just start in Como then to switzerland, Germany, Austria and Prague. Anyone have any recommendations on that itinerary? Best modes of transportation and how long in each area? We are open to it all. Thanks

Much better plan. In general, you will probably want to travel by train.
There are some very helpful folks here on Fodors, and I'm sure they could give you some specific advice if they have a little more info about your trip. How many people traveling? How long is the trip? What time of year? Have you purchased flights yet, and if so where are they into and out of? Budget? What kinds of things are you hoping to see and do (hiking, art museums, history tours, etc?)
