8 hrs. in Amsterdam
I have an 8 hour lay-over in Amsterdam as I travel to Egypt in 3 weeks. My goal, if I time it right is to see the Anne Frank House. (I am a teacher...so I teach WWII) Will I have time to get there, see it and get back to the airport? How long is the ride and what is the best way to get there quickly?

That 8 hours is really less than that but you can easily take the 15-20-minute train ride into the city (trains run about four times each hour, each way); buy your ticket either at the window or out of the machines in the Schiphol Plaza area of the terminal..just follow the signs.

If you look up the address to the Anne Frank house, you can enter it and Gare Centraal into the itinerary planner at
www.mappy.com
and it will tell you the directions, show a map, and how far it is to walk.

Do the math on airport arrival time, and how early you need to be back to the airport for the continuing flight. The train is an option. But for this I would consider springing for a taxi maybe, to take you directly to the Anne Frank House. Research ahead if you need reservations and/or time it is open.
