Dover Castle & White Cliffs tour

Do you know of any day trip companies in London that will do a trip to see the castle & cliffs? Evan Evans & a couple of others seem to only drive by them on the way to or from Canterbury &
Greenwich?

We will be all over Ireland north, south east & west & wonder where a good place to pick up some Irish lace-doily for under $50 US for a friend.

It's not difficult to do yourself, take the train there (about 2 hrs from London), walk up the hill to the castle, and down and over to the white cliffs. I did it last weekend, and it was quite enjoyable (although definitely a daytrip).

I personally would not do a tour to Dover. The castle is massive and VERY interesting. One ca easily spend a whole day there - or less if you tire out. I'd absolutely hate having to stick to a tour's schedule. grsing give you good advice.

As for your other question -- You'll probably want to start a new thread. "Dover Castle & White Cliffs tour" won't tell anyone you are looking for info about lace/doilies in Ireland . . . .

We are slow travelers and did Dover as an overnite from London last autumn, taking the train round trip from Charing Cross to Dover Priory. The World War II stuff is fascinating but be warned, it is not easy walking and no photography is permitted. The hop on/hop off bus tour had shut down for the off-season as had tours of the harbor. Still, we enjoyed the visit.

The station for Dover Castle is Dover Priory. Trains leave from Charing Cross.
